“Powered by music, driven by culture, and fueled by you,” Revolt TV was launched on social media in 2013 by Sean “Diddy” Combs and became the first multi-platform television network. Combs wanted a place for artists and fans to interact as the music business becomes increasingly viral and digital. This platform keeps up with the changing times, allows for learning, and gives young artists an area to be guided.
“You have everyone from Macklemore to my neighbor’s kids,” says Brian Goodman, Vice President of Sales and Partnerships in Revolt’s Chicago office at Expansive ’s 211 W. Wacker location.
In addition to Revolt TV, which can be accessed all around the world, the Revolt Music Conference (RMC) takes place every October for aspiring producers and artists. RMC is the next step in artists’ dreams, Goodman says, providing them the opportunity to obtain information that allows them to make a difference with their talents.
Going to conferences enabled Combs to reach his success, and he wants to continue promoting positive changes in people’s lives through the spread of information. RMC promotes courage, responsibility, and self-accountability among like-minded people who want to be somebody. Combs works every day to be the blueprint for those looking for inspiration and motivation.
“Music and culture are hand and glove,” says Goodman. With the continued success of artists all around the world, Revolt TV launched Revolt University in early 2015. They’re committed to continue growing the artistic community by providing a platform to get new work seen and heard. This includes artists, musicians, fashion designers, dancers, poets, animators, photographers, producers, stylists, painters, filmmakers, and comedians.
For those who cannot make it to the conference in October, Revolt U offers free talks on podcast, television classes, and live events. As Revolt continues to grow, reaching 50-60 million unique viewers a month, Goodman says they will continue seeking ways to assist artists wherever they are at in their careers.
Revolt’s Chicago staff has been working out of Expansive since August 2014. According to Goodman, they were drawn to Expansive because they didn’t want to run their own office, and they needed flexibility with office space and size. Currently they have three people in their Chicago office, but as their company continues to grow, they are excited to expand.
The spread of information that Revolt has cultivated is invaluable, and Revolt is making a difference for artists. Unlike competitor media channels that play whatever is popular, Revolt remains on the forefront and take risks in the industry. With self-accountability, the courage to constantly evolve, and no excuses, Revolt is ready to help any artist in the relentless pursuit of their dreams.
